Securiton fire alarm systems for Thun railway station
Thun railway station, an important transport hub in the Bernese Oberland, connects thousands of travellers with national and international destinations every day. A comprehensive fire alarm system from Securiton AG was installed to ensure the safety of passengers and the facilities. This complies with the latest technological standards and combines a wide range of systems under one roof.
SBB commissioned Securiton AG with the installation of a state-of-the-art SecuriFire fire alarm system at Thun railway station. At the heart of this system is a high-performance SecuriFire control panel that acts as a control unit for the entire fire alarm system. This is complemented by 352 SecuriStar MCD 573X smoke and heat detectors installed in the different areas of the station. These detectors combine smoke and heat sensors to guarantee fast and precise detection of fires, even in the demanding environments of a railway station.
State-of-the-art technology as the basis of the protection concept
Two SecuriBeam BSD 535 linear detectors were installed to secure the large, open hall areas. These devices reliably monitor large areas using infrared radiation and thus ensure that complete fire protection is guaranteed even in the large, high-ceilinged halls of the station.
In addition to the automatic detectors, 42 manual call points were installed at strategic points throughout the station. These allow passengers and staff to manually trigger a fire alarm in an emergency. The system is complemented by 21 sirens that sound an audible alarm in the event of an emergency to quickly and effectively warn everyone in the station.
This sophisticated protection concept ensures that Thun station is perfectly protected against fire at all times and that the safety of passengers and employees is guaranteed. The installation of such a sophisticated fire alarm system in a highly frequented transport facility underlines the importance of reliable fire protection in the public sector.
