Mobile security solutions for use in the Schwanden disaster area

Following the devastating landslides in the summer of 2023 in Schwanden, Canton Glarus, comprehensive security measures were required in the disaster area. The emergency relief teams relied on our mobile monitoring solution, SecuriSiteTec Tower. They ensured security and order in the restricted zone and effectively prevented unauthorised entry and potential looting of unoccupied buildings.

Mobile monitoring solutions for civil protection

Natural disasters such as landslides can lead to an increased risk of looting and vandalism. At the same time, constant monitoring of the area was necessary in order to facilitate the early detection of subsequent events such as further landslides. The security solution had to be flexible and robust in order to cope with the particular conditions in the exclusion zone and create a safe working environment for the emergency services.

We deployed seven mobile video systems (SecuriSiteTec Towers) and positioned them strategically in the exclusion zone. The video towers monitored the affected areas around the clock, preventing unauthorised persons from gaining access to the abandoned buildings. Their weather-resistant design and high reliability ensured that they operated flawlessly even in extreme conditions. 

• Monitoring of the restricted zone: the video towers provided high-resolution real-time images directly to the Securitas operations centre in Lucerne. There, trained operators analysed the data and were able to react immediately in the event of suspicious activity.
• Security alert: thanks to the real-time connection to the control centre, alarms were dealt with immediately, enabling rapid and effective responses to security threats.

Reliable protection for people and infrastructure

Our mobile monitoring solutions provided numerous benefits for securing the disaster area:

The mobile SecuriSiteTec Towers proved to be an extremely reliable and flexible solution in an emergency. They not only made a significant contribution to the security of the environment, but also significantly increased the efficiency of the emergency services. Thanks to their simple integration and expandability, they are a flexible and reliable solution for civil protection.
