Manor in Marktgasse, the heart of Bern’s city centre, is not only the 61st department store of the renowned chain, but also as an innovative experiment in retail. Occupying six floors, including a roof terrace with restaurant, Manor presents a fresh store concept and explores new sales strategies in a bid to hold its own against growing competition online. To protect this retail outlet, we expanded our existing range of solutions to include fire protection, intrusion detection, video security and, in particular, a fogging system.

Comprehensive safety and security for carefree shopping.

Boasting a manageable area of 4500 square metres, the Bern branch focuses on clarity and exclusivity. The omission of certain departments is compensated for by innovative approaches. The sales staff, equipped with tablet computers, skilfully draw attention to the expanded online range. Exclusive beauty and clothing brands as well as the Manora Restaurant with roof terrace, which offers a unique view of Bern’s landmarks, attract customers to the picturesque city centre. In this gem of modern retail concepts, Manor leaves nothing to chance, especially safety and security. As a long-standing a tried-and-trusted partner, we were commissioned to implement a comprehensive safety and security solution at the Bern branch. In nine weeks (possibly record-breaking!), new fire detection, intrusion detection, video security and fogging systems were installed.

Preventative measures and defence ensure overall protection.

The new SecuriFire 3000 fire detection system with 390 intelligent SecuriStar smoke and heat detectors ensures reliable fire protection. Dome cameras and our IPS VideoManager provide effective video security, with the store detective staff behind the scenes keeping a constant eye on the retail floors. When it comes to intrusion protection, Manor’s Bern branch excels with its SecuriSafe Compact intrusion alarm system. Particularly valuable areas are also equipped with a Bandit protective fog system: in the event of an attempted break-in, the room is immediately filled with zero-visibility fog, forcing the thief to flee empty-handed. The system was successfully tested to ensure the store could open without a hitch.
