Inselspital

Construction sites have traditionally been attractive to trespassers and thieves. In earlier days, high-value tools and materials were readily accessible – which was not in the interest of either client or contractor. Even fences could not always keep unwanted visitors at bay. Today, however, the tide has fundamentally turned. More and more regulatory requirements affecting security on construction sites have been placed on all those involved, making the situation more difficult. It is the responsibility of contractors to satisfy the requirements of the Confederation’s Posted Workers Act and ensure that all aspects of undeclared work and compliance are scrupulously observed. At the same time, clients are attaching increasing importance to protection against theft and vandalism as well as to a structured workflow on the construction site. 
 

This is where our two mobile security solutions, SecuriSiteTec Access and SecuriSiteTec Video, come in, bringing order and protection to the action with custom monitoring systems. The major construction site at the Inselspital Bern (University Hospital of Bern) offered an ideal showcase for the versatility of these security solutions. The hospital’s activities were unaffected while a new main building began emerging in the middle of the Insel site in 2017.

Mobile doorman.

SecuriSiteTec Access is a mobile monitoring system for identity, entry and access control on specific premises. This security solution automatically served to deny entry to persons who were not authorised to access the construction site. It comprised containers equipped with access control systems, containers housing specially equipped logistics facilities/offices for monitoring access and exit routes, plus free-standing turnstiles with access readers. One of the containers was used to manage our DISPO scheduling tool, used by the construction site suppliers to coordinate their deliveries to avoid traffic jams and waiting times at the site entrance.

Visual protection.

SecuriSiteTec Video used state-of-the-art video security to keep a round-the-clock eye on the site. Unauthorised visitors were detected and deterred thanks to its intelligent surveillance features. Our assignment at the Inselspital was rounded out by a specially equipped medical container used for treating minor injuries suffered by construction workers, without this affecting the operation of the surrounding hospital.
