Bürgenstock Hotel

Bürgenstock Resort

The Bürgenstock Resort combines luxury with safety, tradition with innovation – a place where the highest standards of fire protection become a reality.

The resort.

The middle of the last century saw the international jet set let their hair down on the ridge of a mountain by Lake Lucerne. With its breathtaking views of Lucerne and the majestic Alps, the hotel complex on the famous Bürgenberg mountain attracted guests from all over the world. The Bürgenstock Resort is the largest integrated hotel complex in Switzerland. It incorporates 30 buildings, including four 3* to 5* hotels offering 383 rooms. The resort is complemented by 67 residence suites, 10 restaurants and bars, and numerous sports and leisure facilities. It goes without saying that this glamorous tourism and relaxation hotspot also boasts the highest standards of fire protection – and who better to offer this than us?

Fire protection at the highest level.

A hotel resort on a moderately exposed mountain ridge requires the highest quality and reliability, particularly in terms of fire protection. The resort operator opted for our state-of-the-art, advanced fire alarm system to protect its assets. During the construction phase, which lasted several years, a total of 25 SecuriFire 3000 fire alarm control panels were installed. This system offers unparalleled fire protection – all components, from the microprocessor to the operating system, are redundant. Should the active system fail, the secondary system seamlessly takes over full operation.

Fire detectors

For the SecuriFire 3000 control panels to be able to raise an alarm, they need reliable information about the location of a potential fire. This is where SecuriStar combined smoke and heat detectors come into play. The 5000-plus detectors installed at the Bürgenstock Resort provide life-saving information. An incipient fire generates both smoke and heat. Thanks to their intelligent design, these detectors automatically adapt to prevailing ambient temperatures. Parts of some of the hotels are additionally equipped with multi-sensor smoke and heat detectors. These have an audible alarm function that features either four different alarm sirens or spoken information.

Alarm and extinguishing system

Our fire protection solution on the Bürgenstock is rounded off by 390 manual call points and 349 sirens. A single-area extinguishing system was also installed in the hotel resort’s server room. Its six nitrogen cylinders from our sister company Contrafeu had to be manually carried down the stairs to the small data center, as the lift had not yet been installed at the time – no easy task given that the cylinders each weighed over 100 kg.
