Peace Summit on the Bürgenstock
Airspace security thanks to the innovative SecuriDrone drone security system, which was specially developed for use in circumstances involving the public sector, authorities and administrations. It offers an effective solution for the protection of sensitive areas such as airspace at high-level conferences.
The internationally important conference on peace in Ukraine, often referred to as the Bürgenstock or Ukraine Conference, took place on 15 and 16 June 2024 at the Bürgenstock Resort in Obbürgen in Canton Nidwalden, Switzerland. It was convened at short notice by Switzerland at the request of Ukraine. In addition to the Swiss delegation, representatives from 92 countries took part, including 57 heads of state or government protected under international law, ministers, ambassadors and top representatives of international organisations. The aim of the conference was to pave the way for a possible peace process in the Russian-Ukrainian war.
A venue with the most demanding security requirements
Situated above Lake Lucerne, the Bürgenstock posed a major security challenge. The airspace around the Bürgenstock was closed and several thousand security personnel deployed throughout Switzerland. Due to the presence of high-ranking international attendees, the tense geopolitical situation and the time constraints, the event was a complex task for those organising its security.
Maximum airspace security
Securiton was present with its SecuriDrone drone security system to protect the airspace against uncooperative drones in the geologically difficult terrain. The system detects and guards against unauthorised unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). It precisely locates both drone and pilot for possible intervention by security forces. If the pilot is not identified promptly, the innovative RF Cyber technology takes control of the drone and brings it safely to the ground – without the use of frequency band interference (jamming) or kinetic defence methods.
