Enhanced Fire Protection for Transformer Rooms at Utilitas, Tallinn

16.12.2025

Energy Group Utilitas, Estonia’s leading renewable energy and district heating provider, continues to strengthen the protection of its infrastructure. The company generates electricity and heat from biomass, solar, and wind energy and has long placed strong emphasis on safety and sustainability.

Following the successful installation of the SecuriFire fire alarm system and the SecuriHeat ADW 535 linear heat detection at the CHP II combined heat and power plant, a new requirement emerged. The transformer rooms required highly reliable fire detection, as access is restricted due to electrical hazards.

Reliable early smoke detection for critical areas

For this challenge, SecuriSmoke ASD was selected. Its high operational reliability and its ability to detect smoke at a very early stage made it the ideal solution. Planning, delivery, and installation were carried out by Epitec OÜ, an experienced Securiton partner in Estonia.

The installation involved significant logistical challenges. All work had to be carried out during the annual transformer maintenance window, which lasts only a few hours. Thanks to precise planning and professional execution, the project was completed successfully within this narrow timeframe.

The result: Enhanced fire protection in critical areas, achieved without interrupting ongoing operations.
