SecuriFire protects innovation park in Biel/Bienne

Switzerland Innovation Park Biel/Bienne (SIPBB) is a private Swiss non-profit organisation that performs and supports industry-focused primarily applied research and development. Around 500 people work, research and study at the new SIPBB building located close to the main station. This learning hub is protected by a state-of-the-art SecuriFire fire alarm system from Securiton.

As part of the national and international network of the Switzerland Innovation Foundation, Switzerland Innovation Park Biel/Bienne (SIPBB) wants to generate research investments from abroad, promote Swiss innovation and start-ups and implement research results quickly into marketable products. With this mission in mind, the SIPBB runs a platform with the following core offers in Biel/Bienne – workspaces, research and development services, and technology equipment. A special feature of the SIPBB is the interdisciplinary cooperation between the four research centres – Swiss Advanced Manufacturing Center, Swiss Battery Technology Center, Swiss MedTech Center and Swiss Smart Factory. Depending on project requirements, the competence centres are supplemented with engineering, technologies and the range of laboratories and workspaces on offer.

These workspaces consist of both open spaces (leased co-working stations as the head office for start-ups) and closed spaces (offices, laboratories and clean rooms). The SIPBB is one of the six sites of the umbrella organisation of the Switzerland Innovation Foundation, which coordinates the sites, promotes them abroad and manages the federal guarantees.

Intelligent fire protection

In terms of fire protection, it was also important to the SIPBB to find a solution that is as fit for the future as possible. The SecuriFire 3000 fire alarm system from Securiton was able to meet this demand to the letter. This fire protection solution is not only extremely reliable, but also incredibly flexible and thus economical. This is thanks to its decentralised, modular architecture. Essentially, it consists of the control panels, SecuriLine eXtended addressable loops and the detectors, alarms and indication and control maps. A corresponding number of these modules is used depending on the building size and safety requirements. At the SIPBB, two SecuriFire 3000 control panels monitor the building. Over 845 SecuriStar MCD 573X multiple sensor detectors (14 in black design) provide early detection of smouldering, glowing and open fires and notify the fire alarm control panel of the location in the event of an alarm.
