Highly effective fire alarm and video-based safety systems provide protection – and not only on the ice.
The impressive Swiss Life Arena opened for business in autumn 2022 to become the new centrepiece attraction of Zurich-Altstetten. As the home of the ZSC Lions, the multifunctional venue not only promises fast-paced ice hockey action, but also national and international sporting events for a broad public. Following three-and-a-half years of construction, the ZSC Lions played their first home game there in October 2022.
Size as a challenge.
With a capacity of 12,000 seats, the multifunctional arena’s “witch’s cauldron” is versatile – and more than the home of the ZSC Lions and their youth teams: it has already witnessed action in the forms of corporate events, sporting fixtures and even the Unihockey World Championships in November 2022. The Swiss Life Arena is also scheduled to host the 2026 Men’s Ice Hockey World Championships. A giant LED video cube, the largest to grace an ice hockey stadium, promises top-notch sporting experiences. The state-of-the-art facilities include training halls, a large weights and gymnastics room, and sprint tracks. However, this imposing structure also brings with it the challenge of preserving the experience with the right fire safety solution.
Safety hat-trick.
The stunning Swiss Life Arena relies on our proven security solutions for its fire safety. The SecuriFire fire detection system integrates 2400 multi-sensor detectors to ensure that even minute quantities of smoke or fire-related heat are rapidly spotted and relayed. The SecuriFire 3000 fire alarm control panel enables a rapid response in the incipient phase of a fire, while seven SecuriBeam ILIA linear smoke detectors provide additional safety in the large arena.
In order to maintain an overview of the vast multifunctional venue, Securiton was also commissioned to install a high-quality video monitoring system. Combined with Dallmeier Electronic’s Panomera® multifocal cameras designed for use in stadiums, and dome and PTZ/Speeddome cameras, the video management system ensures crystal-clear, comprehensive video monitoring.
Major events hosted by the Swiss Life Arena benefit from the presence of security staff from our sister company Securitas AG, who ensure smooth-flowing traffic and the safety of spectators accessing the venue.
